Solar Photovoltaic (PV)
This technology converts the energy in sunlight to electrical energy.

Solar PV systems installed by AES are eligible to receive Feed in Tariff (FIT), a government backed scheme that guarantees the owner an index linked income from their solar PV installation for a period of 25 years while at the same time reducing the owner’s electrical energy bills.

Owners of Solar PV systems are paid for all of the electricity generated, even when it is used to power their own home. This dual benefit can achieve 57.8p for every kWh generated and used.

Solar Thermal
This technology converts the energy in sunlight to thermal energy (heat).

Solar Thermal systems installed by AES are eligible to receive two funding streams. The Renewable Heat Premium Payment is a £300 grant towards the
installation cost.

 

The Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) is a government backed scheme that guarantees the owner an index linked income from their solar installation for 20 years.
Commercial installations qualify for RHI now while domestic installations installed now will be eligible for the scheme in October 2012.

Again, the dual benefit of a correctly sized Solar Thermal system is that it will produce a large proportion of the owner’s hot water demand while paying 18p (tbc) for every kW of heat generated.
